About us

Technology, taught properly.

Silver Star Tech Academy is a technology education practice for adults 55+.

Why we exist

An entire generation was handed the internet, then the smartphone, and now artificial intelligence — and was rarely taught any of it. Not because they could not learn it. Because nobody slowed down long enough to teach it properly.

That gap is what we were built to close. We take the technology people are expected to already understand and we teach it the way it should have been taught the first time: in small groups, at a pace that suits the room, and without anyone being made to feel foolish for asking.

We are a team of coaches and facilitators working across central Texas. We teach in clubhouses, libraries and senior centers, online, and one to one — and we hold every one of our sessions to the same standard.

Who is teaching you

Where this comes from.

Our background is in risk management, audit and process control, and incident management in financial technology — careers spent making complicated systems safe for people to use. We teach AI and everyday technology the same way: what it is genuinely good for, where it goes wrong, and how to use it with less risk to you.

What you can hold us to

Three commitments.

No jargon, ever

If we use a word you do not know, the mistake is ours, not yours.

Never rushed

Ask the same question three times if you need to. That is what we are here for.

Never oversold

If the free workshop is all you need, we will say so. Nobody here works on commission, and there is no pitch from the front of a room.

Small rooms, real devices, notes you keep.

We never put more than twelve people in a room, so that everyone gets to ask, and we work on the phone, tablet or laptop you already own rather than a demonstration one. Every session ends with the steps written down — because the point is not that it worked while we were sitting beside you. The point is that it still works on Tuesday.

Who we work with

Individuals, communities, and the organizations that serve them.

People

Free workshops close to home, and free one-page guides you can print and keep by the phone. Our main course begins in 2027.

Communities

55+ neighborhoods, libraries and senior centers who want programming their residents will actually attend. Free to the community, free to the room.

Organizations

Banks, credit unions, advisors and elder-law firms who sponsor fraud-prevention sessions for their clients and members.

Our foundation

Why we do this the way we do it.

Silver Star Tech Academy is a faith-based business, and that shapes how we work. We believe most of what gets called “not being good with technology” is nothing of the kind. It is usually just nobody ever having sat down and explained it plainly, without making you feel foolish for asking. That is a failure of teaching, not a failure of ability — and it is fixable in an afternoon.

Guided by Christian values of integrity, service and stewardship, we teach plainly, we price honestly, and we will tell you when the free workshop is all you need.

“Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.”

Proverbs 1:5

Nobody who walks into our room is starting from nothing. They have run households, built careers and raised families. We are not here to teach anybody how to think — only how this particular machine works. We are grateful to be trusted with that much.

Come and see whether we suit you.

Start with a free workshop. Beat the Scammers costs nothing, there is nothing to bring, and you leave with a page worth keeping by the phone. Upcoming dates and locations are on the workshops page.

Save me a seat — it's free
