The main course · next session 2027
You do not need to be good with computers.
That is the whole point. Four weeks, ninety minutes a week — from “I don't touch that” to using it on a Tuesday without thinking about it.
The next session begins in 2027. Put your name down and you will hear as soon as dates are set — no cost, and nothing to buy.
Not willing to wait? There is a free workshop running this season, and our one-page guide is yours in a minute.
Just your name and email. We will write once when dates are set, and not otherwise.
Small groups, so everyone gets to ask. There is plenty here you can use today — scroll down.
“I could never manage that.”
It is the most common reason people never start. Here is what is actually true.
Nothing is assumed
We start at the beginning, every time. If you can send a text message, you can do this.
No question is too small
A small group, not a lecture hall. You can ask the thing you have been too embarrassed to ask, and nobody will make you feel foolish for asking it.
Ask it twice if you like
If something does not land the first time, ask again the following week. Nothing here is explained only once, and nobody is in a hurry.
How it runs
Three ways to take it, all covering the same four weeks. Dates and pricing are announced to the waitlist first.
At your own pace
Four recorded sessions you watch when it suits you, with a workbook to download. Start any day, rewatch as often as you like.
Live, in a small group
Four evenings together on video, with a small enough group that you can ask anything and get it answered that evening.
Nothing to log into
Live with a coach, in a room near you
The same four sessions, in person, at a venue in Williamson County. A small group. Nothing to download, nothing to press, nobody to ask for help getting in. You bring your own phone, tablet or laptop and we work on it together. The workbook and the online course are included.
In your community
We bring all four weeks to your clubhouse or library room. The community books it; residents attend at no cost.
The four weeks
What you will be able to do.
Not what we cover — what you walk away able to do.
Week one
What AI actually is — and isn't
Explain it to a friend in one sentence, without being frightened of it.
Week two
Your first conversation with ChatGPT
Set it up, ask a good question, and recognize when the answer is wrong.
Week three
The AI you already own — and what to do with it
Use the phone camera, maps, voice assistant and photo search you have already paid for. Then draft a letter, plan a trip and summarize a long document.
Week four
Staying safe, and making it stick
What should never go into one of these tools, how to protect yourself online, and three things to use it for every week so it becomes a habit rather than a course you took.
What you need to bring
A phone, tablet or laptop you already own — whichever one you actually use. Nothing to buy, nothing to install before we start, and no paid subscription to anything.
If you are not sure your device will do, write to us at [email protected] and we will tell you. It almost always will.
There is plenty you can do now.
There is no need to wait for the course to get started. Three of the most useful things we teach are free, and you can have them this week.
The family safe word is one page, and agreeing on it takes about five minutes at the kitchen table — it is what protects you against the newest telephone scam. Beat the Scammers is a free forty-five minute workshop we run in rooms around Williamson County, and there is no pitch from the front of the room.
And if you would like something to keep by the phone, our Quick Guide sets out the ten scams going around right now on one page, in large print.
Next session 2027
Hear it first.
Leave your name and we will write to you once, when the dates and the price are set. No newsletter you did not ask for, and nothing to buy today.
One email, when dates are set.
